đ Hi friend! Welcome to the Digital Nomad Girls Substack!
This isnât just any digital nomad newsletter!
Founded in 2015, DNG is the longest-running female-focused digital nomad community out there. Writing on Substack is our exciting next adventure, and we hope youâll join us for the ride!
Re-imagining #NomadLife
We believe the nomad lifestyle is about more than collecting passport stamps or generating âpassiveâ income.
That it could be part of a bigger movement towards a more sustainable, ethical, feminist & communal world. One that values collaboration, mindfulness and rest - over individualism, greed and hustle culture.
And we believe that a network of globally-minded, adventurous & curious women will build this world; by sharing our knowledge and skills with each other and building businesses that are a force for good.
Come join the gang!
Every week(ish), we share a glimpse into what itâs really like to work online and travel, whether full-time, part-time or just once in a while.
You can subscribe for free for full access to the newsletter and publication archives.
Or join as a paid Founding member to support our work (and help keep DNG going for another 10 years!). Plus, weâll be experimenting with subscriber bonuses and events like networking meetups, Q&As, job roundups and more!
Whoâs behind this?
Hi, Iâm Jenny!
Iâm a multi-potentialite, ex-chemist, facilitator, coach, community host, retreat organiser and ex-digital nomad. Iâm also a dabbler in many hobbies, currently: sewing, upcycling, crochet, knitting, gardening. And always reading.
Iâve gone through many transitions in my life but what remains constant is my love of working with awesome women doing awesome things, my curiosity and need for experimentation. And my love of wearing all things pink.
After travelling full-time for 7+ years Iâm now based in a small town in South-West England, trying to figure out how to find hope, joy and purpose in a world on fire.
I believe imagination and the power of community are what the world needs most and I canât wait to share some of that with you in this newsletter.
Speaking of community, Iâve been wanting to experiment with a more collective approach for a while and Iâm excited to invite some of my friends and members to contribute to this newsletter.
Stay tuned and let me know what youâd like to read about!
And you can find out more about me or read my other newsletter, Tiny Glimmers. â¨
Why Substack?
Iâve thought lots about this change, and ultimately, itâs always an experiment to try a new platform, but here are some of the reasons:
đŹ What I love most about Substack is that it allows readers to get involved in the conversation with the author and with each other through commenting!
It turns a standard one-way newsletter into a two-way conversation. And with the Chat feature, we can even dive deeper in future.đŹ You can read the newsletter in your inbox as usual, đ˛ and you can also read it on the Substack app and join the conversation in the comments!
đď¸ Plus, youâll be able to access an archive of past newsletters just like a blog archive; as a writer it feels nice to know my writing doesnât just disappear into the void.
đ° And while itâs not a main reason, the monetisation features are also useful to help keep running DNG. Iâve kept the community going for free for 10+ years now and itâs been an honour and joy of my life.
But in reality, life is expensive, and it would be wonderful if this Substack could turn into a little income stream itself to support my writing and work. And maybe most excitingly, Iâm hoping to share this platform with other writers from our community, to share different voices, angles, backgrounds and way to be a digital nomad. Thatâs what DNG has always been about!
Now, letâs hear from you!
